Preview: Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears vs. Splendora Wildcats
Little Cypress-Mauriceville has enjoyed a six-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on The Splendora Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Splendora took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Little Cypress-Mauriceville, who comes in off a win.
Last Friday, Little Cypress-Mauriceville didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Livingston, but they still walked away with a 18-13 victory.
Meanwhile, Splendora's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 51-22 loss at the hands of Hargrave.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Dominic Rodriguez, who rushed for 134 yards. Lubbers Robert was in the mix as well, providing Splendora with two touchdowns.
Little Cypress-Mauriceville's victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 5-3. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 5.67 points across that stretch. As for Splendora, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.
Everything came up roses for Little Cypress-Mauriceville against Splendora in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 55-9 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Little Cypress-Mauriceville since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
