Soccer Game Preview: Sevier County vs. South-Doyle

The Sevier County Smoky Bears will venture away from home to challenge the South-Doyle Cherokees at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Sevier County sitting on six straight victories and South-Doyle on eight.

Sevier County barely beat Morristown-Hamblen East the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Smoky Bears were the clear victors by a 7-2 margin over the Hurricanes on Thursday. Considering Sevier County have won seven matchups by more than two goals this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, South-Doyle was able to grind out a solid win over Lenoir City on Tuesday, taking the game 4-2. Given South-Doyle's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee soccer rankings (they are ranked 20th, while Lenoir City are ranked 117th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

South-Doyle hit Lenoir City with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Finneas Straussfogel, Roger Oseguera Cruz, Jude Straussfogel, and Cameron Harp.

South-Doyle pushed their record up to 11-1-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 26 goals over those five games. As for Sevier County, their victory bumped their record up to 10-2-1.
