Softball Recap: Orange Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Orange can now relate to. They fell just short of the Southern Nash Firebirds by a score of 6-4 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Panthers have suffered since March 3rd.

Orange got a good showing from Lexi Bowes, who didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Bowes has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Orange saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hayleigh Hammond, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.

Orange's loss dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Southern Nash, the win keeps they at an undefeated 23-0.

Orange does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Southern Nash, they will challenge Eastern Alamance on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Firebirds 0.6, the Eagles 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
