Baseball Game Preview: Key West Conchs vs. Miami Stingarees

For the second straight game, Key West will face off against Miami. The Conchs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Stingarees at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Key West is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

Key West took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They put the hurt on Miami with a sharp 14-4 victory. The Conchs haven't had any issues with the Stingarees recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Jon Carlos Lampas-Gormley looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Key West is 6-1 when Lampas-Gormley allows two or fewer earned runs, but 7-8 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sam Holland, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Nelson Ong was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.

Key West's victory bumped their record up to 13-9. As for Miami, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-5 record this season.
