Football Recap: Millbury Woolies vs. Maynard Tigers
You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Millbury's strategy against Maynard on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Woolies blew the Tigers out of the water with a 54-12 final score. Millbury was led to victory by Matteus Mateo and Anthony Hernandez. Mateo threw for 324 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 16.2 yards per attempt, while Hernandez rushed for 128 yards and a pair of scores on only eight carries. That's the most passing touchdowns Mateo has posted since back in September of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Phillipo, who picked up 114 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.
Millbury didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Nolan Clark.
