Baseball Game Preview: Marshall Eagles vs. El Monte Lions

Marshall is a perfect 10-0 against El Monte since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Eagles will host the Lions at 3:30 p.m. Marshall will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Marshall is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 17-8 margin over Polytechnic on Saturday.

James Salinas looked comfortable as he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Marshall is 2-1 when Salinas allows one or fewer hits, but 4-11 otherwise.

Marshall always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, El Monte was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 14th straight defeat. They lost 12-0 to Arroyo.

El Monte saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaime Hernandez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.

El Monte's loss dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Marshall, their win bumped their record up to 6-12.

Everything went Marshall's way against El Monte in their previous matchup back in March, as Marshall made off with a 13-1 victory. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
