Softball Recap: Ridgefield Finds Playoff Glory Versus Fitch

With a playoff win on the line, Ridgefield rose to the challenge on Monday. They never let the Fitch Falcons get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Tigers as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Not much got past Caitlin McGratty, who gave up just a hit to keep Fitch off the board. McGratty has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Grace Couch, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Sonia Gaughran, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one run.

The victory got Ridgefield back to even at 10-10. As for Fitch, their loss dropped their record down to 13-7.

As of now, neither Ridgefield nor the Falcons have any future games scheduled.
