Volleyball Game Preview: Palmetto Ridge Bears vs. Lely Trojans

The Palmetto Ridge Bears will head out to challenge the Lely Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Palmetto Ridge lost 3-0 to Estero on Monday. The loss continues a trend for the Bears in their meetings with the Wildcats: they've now lost seven in a row.

While Palmetto Ridge was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. The final score came out to 25-15, 27-25, 25-21.

Palmetto Ridge's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ava Azcuy, who had 15 digs and three aces, and Cailee Kerr, who had 16 digs. Azcuy is crushing it when it comes to digs: she's had at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, Lely came up short against Community School of Naples last Saturday and fell 2-0.

Palmetto Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Lely, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.

Everything went Palmetto Ridge's way against Lely in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as Palmetto Ridge made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
