Football Game Preview: Juab Wasps vs. Grantsville Cowboys + Official Tickets

The Juab Wasps will take on the Grantsville Cowboys at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Juab is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They blew past Ben Lomond 65-14. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Wasps just coasted through the last quarter.

Meanwhile, Grantsville had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They breezed past the Dinos to the tune of 54-17. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 47-3.

Juab better keep an eye on Dallan Van Vliet. He was instrumental in Grantsville's win, throwing for 133 yards and three TDs while completing 75% of his passes. Van Vliet's passing game has become a key predictor of the Cowboys' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 3-4 otherwise. Ty Holm was in the mix too, providing Grantsville with two touchdowns.

Special teams was a major factor in the game for Grantsville, racking up 11 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Jordan Fawson, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

One reason for the win was Grantsville's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Aiden Brown and Porter Davis, who racked up four sacks between them.

Grantsville's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Juab, their victory bumped their record up to 8-3.

Juab won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in September, slipping by Grantsville 36-35. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wasps since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
