Basketball Recap: Ryheem Benton's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Ballou over Audenried

If Ballou was riding high fresh off their 59-11 takedown of Bell on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Ballou Knights took a 62-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Audenried. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Knights came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 14th in District of Columbia, while Audenried are ranked 230th in Pennsylvania).

Ballou lost on Saturday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ryheem Benton, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Keshaun Mack, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 11 points and eight rebounds.

Ballou moved to 10-7 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Audenried, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-9-1.

Ballou wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 59-50 win against Bard on the 22nd. As for Audenried, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-37 loss against Imhotep Charter on the 21st.
