Baseball Game Preview: Monroe Cheesemakers vs. Clinton Cougars

The Monroe Cheesemakers will head out to square off against the Clinton Cougars at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. Clinton took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Monroe, who comes in off a win.

Monroe took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They skirted past Big Foot 7-6. The win continues a trend for the Cheesemakers in their matchups with the Chiefs: they've now won three in a row.

Meanwhile, Clinton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They came up short against Delavan-Darien, falling 20-2. That's two games in a row now that the Cougars have lost by exactly 18 runs.

Clinton's loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Monroe, their victory bumped their record up to 3-8-1.

Monroe was able to grind out a solid win over Clinton in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, winning 8-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cheesemakers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
