Softball Recap: Atkins Has No Trouble Against Dudley

Atkins won the last time they faced Dudley and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Camels were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Panthers. The Camels might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by nine runs or more this season.

Aniston Pennington made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with six RBI, one triple, and one run.

In other batting news, Jaidyn Mayhue was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-2. Leah Izruieta was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-1.

Atkins always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Atkins pushed their record up to 4-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.7 runs over those games. As for Dudley, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Atkins didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 20-2 loss against Glenn on the 2nd. As for Dudley, they will challenge Ben L. Smith at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Golden Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.89 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
