Wolcott is a perfect 8-0 against Derby since May of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Red Raiders at 3:45 p.m.

Wolcott came up short against Seymour on Friday, falling 10-4. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Lilly Spina was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Jaelyn Belval, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Derby, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They blew past Crosby 15-3 on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Red Raiders needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Kaelyn DiMartino made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Alex Davis and Kiera Boyles did most of the damage at the plate: Davis scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4, while Boyles scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Those hits marked the first that Davis got this season. Brianna Fernandez was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Derby kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Wolcott's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Derby, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Everything went Wolcott's way against Derby in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Wolcott made off with a 13-1 win. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Red Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
