Football Recap: Noah Lucero's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Roosevelt over Holy Family

If Roosevelt was riding high fresh off their 35-0 takedown of Northfield last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Roughriders took a hard 41-26 fall against the Holy Family Tigers on Friday. The Roughriders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Roosevelt lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Noah Lucero, who picked up 76 receiving yards and two TDs. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making three total tackles and defending one pass.

Roosevelt didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Houston Howell and Evan Hays.

Roosevelt's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Holy Family, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Roosevelt will host Ponderosa at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Holy Family, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Lewis-Palmer at 7:00 p.m. on the 19th.
