Softball Recap: Glens Falls Takes a Loss

Glens Falls had lost three straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 6-6 to make it four. They fell just short of the Scotia-Glenville Tartans by a score of 4-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 on April 10th.

Isabella Johnson put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Johnson wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Lily Canale, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

As for Scotia-Glenville, their win bumped their record up to 10-3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since April 10th.

On Scotia-Glenville's side, Keeley Kristel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Glens Falls will challenge Queensbury at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Scotia-Glenville, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Amsterdam at 4:30 p.m. The Rams will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Tartans surely won't give up without a fight.
