Preview: Crisfield Crabbers vs. Decatur Seahawks
After three games on the road, Crisfield is heading back home. They will take on the Decatur Seahawks at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Crisfield suffered their biggest defeat since December 7, 2023 last Wednesday. They were beaten by Snow Hill 93-57. While losing is never fun, Crisfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 227th, while Snow Hill is ranked 47th).
Meanwhile, Decatur put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Monday. They claimed a resounding 74-35 victory over Washington at home. With Decatur ahead 38-17 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Davin Chandler was his usual excellent self, scoring 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Frankie Buxbaum, who scored ten points.
Crisfield's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Decatur, they pushed their record up to 11-1 with that victory, which was their 16th straight at home.
Crisfield was taken down by Decatur 93-53 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Decatur's Brycen Coleman, who dropped a double-double on 37 points and ten rebounds. Now that Crisfield knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
