Softball Recap: Hastings Comes Up Short

Hastings extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 4-4 in the process. They came up short against the Harper Creek Beavers, falling 15-0. The Saxons were not able to make up for their defeat to the Beavers from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

As for Harper Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Considering they have won five matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Harper Creek's part, Kennedy Halverson was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Halverson has posted since back in May of 2024. Kaylee Kirkpatrick was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

While Hastings had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
