Westlake is 2-8 against Skyridge since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Thunder will look to defend their home field against the Falcons at 3:30 p.m. Westlake is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.3 runs per game this season.

Westlake is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Lehi, who was ranked 14th at the time (Westlake was ranked 13th). The Thunder fell 5-2 to the Pioneers on Wednesday. The Thunder have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Westlake saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madison Buckley, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, Skyridge earned a 14-10 victory over Springville on Friday.

Isabella Plewe was incredible, firing off two home runs, eight RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-5. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Peyton Hall, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and two RBI.

Skyridge is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-14 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Westlake, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-7.

Skyridge's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Westlake has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.1 hits per game. It's a different story for Skyridge, though, as they've been averaging 10.5 hits. Given Westlake's sizable advantage in that area, the Falcons will need to find a way to close that gap.

Westlake took their victory against Skyridge in their previous meeting back in April by a conclusive 25-17 score. Will the Thunder repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
