Softball Recap: Glacier Wolfpack vs. Sentinel Spartans        
        
		
            
 On Thursday, Glacier faced Sentinel in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Glacier Wolfpack narrowly escaped with a  win as the  squad sidled past the Sentinel Spartans  5-4. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Glacier also won the last time the pair played  back in May of 2023.
  Ella Farrell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out seven batters over  seven innings while giving up just one earned  (and three unearned) runs off   eight  hits (and only one walk). Farrell has been consistent recently: she hasn't  tossed less than six  strikeouts every time she's  pitched this season. Farrell was also solid in the batter's box,  going 2-for-3 with  an  RBI.
 Farrell wasn't  the only one making solid contact as  four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Cazz Rankosky, who  went 1-for-2 with two  RBI.
 Like Glacier, Sentinel also got a great game from a two-way player:  Piper Whitman. She  struck out six batters over  5.2 innings while giving up  three earned runs off   six  hits. Whitman was also big at the plate,  scoring two  runs while going 2-for-2.
 Even though they lost, Sentinel was hitting in the alleys and  finished the game with four  doubles. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Glacier didn't  hit any.
 Glacier's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Sentinel, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
 Glacier will head out on the road to  challenge  Helena at 12:00  p.m.  on Saturday. The last three games Helena has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Sentinel, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hellgate at 11:00  a.m.  on Saturday. Sentinel is facing Hellgate at the right time seeing as Hellgate is stuck on  a  five-game losing streak.
