Basketball Recap: Trae Phillips Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Leon

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Grapeland, Centerville was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They walked away with a 60-53 win over the Leon Cougars. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 67-46 back in January.

Centerville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Trae Phillips, who went 5 for 12 en route to 17 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. Another player making a difference was Ty Chrisman, who posted 12 points and five rebounds.

Centerville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive matches.

Centerville pushed their record up to 12-11 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Leon, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 14 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-17 record this season.
