Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Laton). They blew past the Legacy Christian Academy Lions 33-23 on Friday. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Jade Perez made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and 20 unearned) runs off eight hits. Perez was even better at the plate, scoring five runs while getting on base in six of her eight plate appearances. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in February.
In other batting news, Madison Heffley was incredible, going 6-for-8 with six runs, seven RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emmily Mares, who scored five runs while going 3-for-5.
Laton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .634. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .519 or higher in eight consecutive contests.
