Softball Recap: Judson Comes Up Short

Judson extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to eight on Friday, dropping them down to 0-5. They came up short against the Santa Fe Indians, falling 14-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Rockets of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Nadia Pierre made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI.

As for Santa Fe, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games.

On Santa Fe's side, they gave Vail McAfee the start and clearly made the right call: she struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk).

At the plate, Mallory Richardson and Lexi Platt did most of the damage at the plate: Richardson went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Platt went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Richardson has posted since back in April of 2025. Jackie Newell was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one triple and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Judson will take on Wylie in a tournament on Saturday. The Pirates have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed seven runs per game on average), something the Rockets will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Santa Fe, they will head out on the road to square off against Dickinson at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
