Baseball Recap: Quartz Hill Royals vs. Canyon Comanches

Quartz Hill and Canyon squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Quartz Hill had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Canyon Comanches by a score of 5-4. It was the first time this season that Quartz Hill let down their fans at home.

Esteban Sepulveda was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Connor Gregory was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

On Canyon's side, Cohen Gomez made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 5.1 innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. Gomez has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive pitching appearances.
