Flag Football Game Preview: Marana Tigers vs. Salpointe Catholic Lancers

Two dominant signal callers in Isabella Garcia and Isla Collins are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Marana Tigers will welcome the Salpointe Catholic Lancers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Salpointe Catholic will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Marana extended their winning streak to ten on Tuesday. The Tigers blew past Corona del Sol 35-14. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Tigers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona flag football rankings (they are ranked second, while the Aztecs are ranked 46th).

Meanwhile, while Salpointe Catholic put up plenty of points on Monday, the same can't be said for Tucson High Magnet School. The Lancers blew past the Badgers 51-0. The Lancers pushed the score to 44-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Badgers had no chance of recovering from.

Salpointe Catholic found their leader in freshman Collins, who threw for 163 yards and four touchdowns while completing 77.3% of her passes.

Salpointe Catholic didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. Collins led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by herself. She got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Salpointe Catholic's win bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Marana, their victory bumped their record up to 10-0.
