Basketball Recap: Gatlinburg-Pittman Starts Season with Win Against Greenback

Gatlinburg-Pittman gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They really took it to the Greenback Cherokees for the full four quarters, racking up an 81-16 win. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 52-7.

Jayden Barton had an outrageously good game as he went 12-for-22 en route to 26 points. Another player making a difference was Roger Matute, who posted 11 points along with seven boards and four steals.

Gatlinburg-Pittman was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Gatlinburg-Pittman wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 60-55 victory against Clinton on the 22nd. As for Greenback, they will face off against Concord Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
