Baseball Game Preview: Carson Colts vs. Bell Eagles

The Carson Colts will face off against the Bell Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are out to turn their luck around after having lost tight contests in their previous games.

Saturday just wasn't the day for Carson's offense. They fell just short of Lakewood by a score of 2-0 on Saturday. The match marked the first time this season in which the Colts were not able to get on the board.

Anthony Dorado spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Carson saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nate Ruan, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

Meanwhile, Bell didn't have quite enough to beat Kennedy on Saturday and fell 5-3. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Luis Melendez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole Three bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases.

Carson dropped their record down to 1-6 with the loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Bell, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Carson has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Bell struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Carson was able to grind out a solid win over Bell when the teams last played back in February of 2024, winning 5-1. Will Carson repeat their success, or does Bell have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
