Baseball Recap: Lewisburg Comes Up Short

Lewisburg had lost five straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 3-7-1 to make it six. They lost 12-2 to the Mount Carmel RED TORNADOES. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the RED TORNADOES this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-3 back in March.

Colin Shannon made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.

As for Mount Carmel, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games.

On Mount Carmel's side, Aidan Brokenshire looked comfortable as he pitched 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lukas Carpenter, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and three runs. Owen Ramirez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.

Coincidentally, Lewisburg and Mount Carmel will both be playing Montoursville the next time they take the field. The RED TORNADOES will head out to face the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Green Dragons will host them at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
