The Doddridge County Bulldogs will venture away from home to square off against the Greenbrier West Cavaliers at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Doddridge County's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Greenbrier West's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
On Thursday, Doddridge County was able to grind out a solid win over Tyler, taking the game 7-3. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won nine in a row.
Kamryn Satterfield was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other pitching news, Tessa Mayle looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Isabella Holtz was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted over her last 11 contests.
Meanwhile, Greenbrier West can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Webster County as they made off with a 13-1 win. The Cavaliers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by eight runs or more this season.
Like Doddridge County, Greenbrier West also got a great game from a two-way player: Brilee Redden. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. Redden was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases and three runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brooklyn Adkins, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Kenna Fields was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Doddridge County's record now sits at 16-2. As for Greenbrier West, their record is now 7-4.
Saturday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Doddridge County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .376. However, it's not like Greenbrier West struggles in that department as they've averaged .320. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Doddridge County couldn't quite finish off Greenbrier West in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 7-5. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
