Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Skyla Wunder and Charlotte Speckner Lead Lingle-Fort Laramie to Victory

With a playoff win on the line, Lingle-Fort Laramie rose to the challenge on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 57-37 margin over the Niobrara County Tigers. The Doggers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Lingle-Fort Laramie was led to victory by Charlotte Speckner and Skyla Wunder. Speckner dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten boards, while Wunder shot 42% from the field on her way to 20 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Wunder is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 22 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jordynn Speckner, who posted two points in addition to six assists, six boards, and five steals.

Lingle-Fort Laramie smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 22 consecutive matches.

Niobrara County lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jaci Vetter, who earned six points. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in field goal percentage (50%). Sarah Krein was another key player, putting up seven points.

Lingle-Fort Laramie's record now sits at 22-4. As for Niobrara County, their loss dropped their record down to 17-8.

When Lingle-Fort Laramie and Niobrara County next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Lingle-Fort Laramie will try to stop Burlington's nine-game winning streak when they meet on Thursday. Meanwhile, Niobrara County will challenge Cokeville and their seven-game winning streak on Thursday.
