Basketball Recap: Chiles Comes Up Short

After flying high against FAMU DRS last Saturday, Chiles came back down to earth. The Chiles Timberwolves came up short against the Brookwood Warriors on Tuesday, falling 47-27. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Timberwolves have suffered against the Warriors since December 5, 2019.

Brookwood's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Abigail Squires, who posted nine points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. The dominant performance gave Squires a new career-high in blocks. Another player making a difference was Emma Rhodes, who had ten points.

Chiles dropped their record down to 3-13 with the loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Brookwood, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 14-7.

Chiles and Brookwood could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in their respective state rankings. Chiles (ranked 454th) will meet Madison County (ranked 223rd) at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Similarly, Brookwood will challenge Terrell Academy at 6:15 p.m. on Friday down 168 places (248 vs. 80).
