Softball Recap: Hayfield Comes Up Short

Hayfield was the 13-2 winner over Houston when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Vikings fell 6-1 to the Hurricanes on Friday. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Kenna Rutledge was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Rutledge is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season.

Hayfield now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Houston, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-1.

Looking ahead, Hayfield will be playing at home against Plainview-Elgin-Millville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Houston, they will take on Grand Meadow/Kingsland/LeRoy-Ostrander at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
