Baseball Recap: Brea Olinda Beats Esperanza for Their Third Straight Victory

Brea Olinda had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Esperanza Aztecs a 4-0 shutout. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 7-6 win last Wednesday.

Not much got past Nicholas Rodriguez, who gave up just six hits to keep Esperanza off the board. Rodriguez also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Brea Olinda is 7-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-5 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Hudson Sims, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Deacon Britton was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases.

Brea Olinda's win bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Esperanza, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-10.
