Football Recap: Friday's Defeat Ends Hillcrest's Winning Streak

Hillcrest dropped down to 3-4 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell 31-24 to the Lemont Lemont HS. The Hawks were not able to make up for their loss to the Lemont HS from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

Despite the loss, Hillcrest still got an impressive performance from Derrick Streeter, who threw for 141 yards and a pair of TDs on only 11 passes, and also rushed for 40 yards.

As for Lemont, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 43.0 points over those games.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Aiden Rudman and Brandon Potaczek. Rudman gained 64 total yards and three touchdowns while Potaczek gained 79 total yards and a touchdown. Rudman also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because Lemont is undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise.

Looking ahead, Hillcrest will take on Oak Forest at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hawks will need to watch out since the Bengals have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Lemont, they will face off against Richards at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs will aim to continue their five-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
