Basketball Recap: Overland Takes a Loss

Overland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 46-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eaglecrest Raptors. The matchup marked the Trailblazers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, Overland still got an impressive performance from Ilaisaane Davis, who posted 15 points. Davis is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Cayla Clark was another key player, putting up four points.

Even though they lost, Overland smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Eaglecrest's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jada Bobb, who went 7 for 13 to rack up 16 points and eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Amaia Jones, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 11 points.

Overland's loss dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Eaglecrest, their record now sits at an identical 11-6.

Overland wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 72-22 defeat against Grandview on the 5th. As for Eaglecrest, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-30 loss against Cherokee Trail on the 5th.
