Baseball Recap: Richland Wins Going Away Against Steelville

Richland won against Summersville last Thursday with 12 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. Richland was the clear victor by a 12-5 margin over the Steelville Cardinals. Considering the Bears have won three contests by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

London Smith was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-4. He has become a key player for Richland: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-2 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Pallai, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

The win made it two in a row for Richland and bumps their season record up to 3-3. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 9.5 hits in those games compared to only 3.75 in the others. As for Steelville, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Looking ahead, Richland and Bell City will meet on Tuesday for a tough Bear Battle. Richland is facing Bell City at the right time seeing as Bell City is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Steelville, they will take on Sullivan at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
