Basketball Recap: Pathway Christian Extends Winning Streak to Three

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Pathway Christian's strategy against East Moline Christian on Tuesday. The Pathway Christian Panthers put the hurt on the East Moline Christian Eagles with a sharp 47-25 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Panthers have posted since December 8, 2023.

Pathway Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Denver Nelson, who went 7 of 14 on his way to 15 points in addition to six assists and five steals. The contest was Nelson's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Preston Yutzy, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 14 points and three steals.

Nelson wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Pathway Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Moline Christian only posted one assist.

East Moline Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Preston Baldwin, who posted seven points and ten boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Bright Tsolegnanou, who had ten points and six rebounds.

The win (which was Pathway Christian's third in a row) raised their record to 3-4. As for East Moline Christian, they dropped their record down to 2-6 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

Pathway Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 44-22 victory against Unity Christian on the 19th. As for East Moline Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 42-25 loss against Galesburg Christian on the 19th.
