Football Game Preview: Covenant Christian Academy Lions vs. Jeanerette Tigers

The Covenant Christian Academy Lions will head out to challenge the Jeanerette Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

It was a proper cat-fight when Covenant Christian Academy challenged Hanson Memorial on Friday. The Lions took their matchup with ease, bagging a 56-6 win over the Tigers. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won three contests by 29 points or more so far this season.

Owen Trosclair and Braydon Percle were among the main playmakers for Covenant Christian Academy as the former rushed for 74 yards and three scores and the latter gained 204 total yards and two touchdowns. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 80 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Covenant Christian Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 243 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 163 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Jeanerette put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came within five points of losing the streak, but they secured an 18-13 W against St. Martinville. Those 18 points were actually the fewest Jeanerette has put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Covenant Christian Academy's record is now 5-2. As for Jeanerette, their record now sits at 7-0.

Covenant Christian Academy strolled past Jeanerette in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a score of 29-12. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
