Baseball Game Preview: Nampa Bulldogs vs. Caldwell Cougars

The Nampa Bulldogs will face off against the Caldwell Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Nampa will be strutting in after a victory while Caldwell will be coming in after a loss.

Nampa will bounce into Tuesday's contest after beating Emmett, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Bulldogs came out on top against the Huskies by a score of 4-1 on Monday. The game was the first time the Bulldogs have beaten the Huskies on their field since March 14, 2019.

Jaxon Wade spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up seven Ks. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Nampa is 5-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Bradley Norman was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Caldwell was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 9-1 to Columbia, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Nampa has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Caldwell, their loss dropped their record down to 1-17.
