Basketball Recap: Valley Central's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Valley Central won the last time they faced Monticello and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Valley Central Vikings were the clear victor by a 48-23 margin over the Monticello Panthers. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 25-5.

When it comes to explaining why Monticello lost, don't look at Morgan Hutchins. Despite the final result, she posted eight points and 11 boards.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Valley Central, bringing their record for this year to 8-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.8 points over those games. As for Monticello, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-14.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Valley Central will challenge Newburgh Free Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Newburgh Free Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Monticello, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Panthers take on the Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Warwick's defense has only allowed 29.9 points per game this season, so Monticello's offense will have their work cut out for them.
