The Haughton Buccaneers will head out on the road to face off against the Natchitoches Central Chiefs at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Haughton's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over Parkway. Winning may never get old, but the Buccaneers sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Dixie Williams made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-2. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Charlee Prothro was a standout: she fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-3. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Presley Yerby was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Haughton lost a few balls and finished the game with five home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Natchitoches Central entered their tilt with Huntington on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Raiders with a sharp 18-0 win.
Like Haughton, Natchitoches Central also got a great game from a two-way player: Sydni Jones. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Jones was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Maggie Massia and Lila Robertson did most of the damage at the plate: Massia scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2, while Robertson scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-1. Another player making a difference was Morgan Robinson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Natchitoches Central's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-14. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Haughton, their record is now 14-12.
Haughton came up short against Natchitoches Central in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, falling 7-4. Can the Buccaneers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
