Baseball Recap: Seven Straight Home Wins for Ocean Springs

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Ocean Springs and Harrison Central have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Friday. The Greyhounds were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Red Rebels. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-1 last Wednesday.

Ocean Springs got a great performance from Tristen Fox as he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Fox has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Justin San Miguel, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Easton Bahr also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Ocean Springs was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Harrison Central only posted a batting average of .185.

Ocean Springs' win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-4-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Harrison Central, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-14.

Ocean Springs will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Red Rebels: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
