Softball Recap: Westbrook Takes a Loss

Westbrook was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 10-9 heartbreaker at the hands of the Christoval Cougars. One positive for the Wildcats, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Lillian Gibson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two triples and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Katie Salazar, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Even though they lost, Westbrook was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .538. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Westbrook's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Christoval, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-0.
