Softball Recap: Covina Beats Mountain View for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Covina never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Mountain View Vikings by a score of 3-0. The three-run effort marked the Colts' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Not much got past Lexi Sumpter, who gave up just two hits and racked up 17 Ks to keep Mountain View off the board. Those 17 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Sumpter.

On the hitting side, Isabell Ramirez was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Giselle Rodarte also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

The victory (which was Covina's fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Mountain View, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Covina will take on Duarte at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Duarte is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season. As for Mountain View, they will challenge Glendale at 3:30 p.m. on March 18th.
