Basketball Game Preview: Damonte Ranch Mustangs vs. Lowry Buckaroos

The Damonte Ranch Mustangs will take on the Lowry Buckaroos in a holiday battle at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lowry took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Damonte Ranch, who comes in off a win.

Damonte Ranch is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their contest on Friday with ease, bagging a 72-40 win over Reed. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 54-17.

Damonte Ranch's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kylee Moscove, who shot 67% from the field en route to 18 points along with seven assists and three steals. What's more, Moscove also posted a 67% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2024. Jazmine Monges was another key player, going 7-for-9 on her way to 16 points and three steals.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Damonte Ranch was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Lowry played a tough game on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by North Valleys and fell 62-35. The Buckaroos have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Damonte Ranch has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.0 points over those games. As for Lowry, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.

Damonte Ranch couldn't quite get it done against Lowry in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 as they fell 59-49. Thankfully for the Mustangs, Britain Backus (who shot 67% from the field to rack up 34 points and six steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
