Basketball Recap: Van Buren Comes Up Short

Van Buren saw some tournament action on Thursday. They fell 57-46 to the Forrest City Mustangs. While losing is never fun, the Pointers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 65th, while the Mustangs are ranked third).

This is the second loss in a row for Van Buren and nudges their season record down to 6-6. As for Forrest City, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-1.

Van Buren and Northside will face off at 5:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Northside will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Van Buren surely won't give up without a fight. As for Forrest City, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Lake Hamilton at 6:30 p.m. on January 4, 2025.
