Preview: Simsbury Trojans vs. Southington Blue Knights

The Simsbury Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Southington Blue Knights at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Simsbury will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

In what's become a running theme this season, Simsbury gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They breezed by Hall at home to the tune of 62-31. Given Simsbury's advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked first, while Hall is ranked 114th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Southington strolled past East Hartford with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 52-36. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Southington.

Southington got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Roxy Cardillo out in front who scored 16 points along with five steals. Cardillo is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lily Cooper, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.

Simsbury pushed their record up to 17-1 with that win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.9 points per game. As for Southington, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season.

Simsbury didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Southington in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 49-44 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Simsbury since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
