Baseball Recap: Badin Continues Home Dominance on Wednesday

Badin never let their opponents score on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Archbishop McNicholas Rockets as they made off with a 7-0 win. Considering the Rams have won 11 matchups by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

The result came thanks to Caleb Driessen's shutout, as he gave up just two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up a single earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Chandler Taylor was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Eli Wolpert was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Badin's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Archbishop McNicholas, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season.

Badin and Archbishop McNicholas should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Rams (ranked seventh) will meet Fairfield (ranked 464th) at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Archbishop McNicholas will face off against Archbishop Alter at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (165 vs. 386).
