Basketball Recap: Angola Comes Up Short

Angola has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 45-42 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lakeland Lakers. If the Hornets were looking for revenge after losing 63-61 to the Lakers when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Angola saw an underclassman step up: freshman Niles Knox almost dropped a double-double with 20 points and nine boards. Knox continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyler Huscher, who posted seven points.

Angola's defeat dropped their record down to 15-7. As for Lakeland, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-8.

Coming up, Angola will challenge Garrett at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Angola is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.9 points per game this season. As for Lakeland, they will square off against Churubusco at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
