Basketball Recap: Turner Golden Bears vs. West Chargers
Turner was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They came up short against the West Chargers, falling 63-41. The Golden Bears lost against the Chargers in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 81-30 score last time.
When it comes to explaining why Turner lost, don't look at Mekhi Follick. Despite the final result, he went 7 for 13 on his way to 17 points and five boards. Follick is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Michael Marshall was another key player, putting up five points and five blocks.
Turner's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for West, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.
Turner will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against De Soto. As for West, they will venture away from home to challenge Basehor-Linwood on Tuesday. Basehor-Linwood has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
