Baseball Preview: Tabernacle Torches vs. Cornerstone Christian Eagles
The Tabernacle Torches will head out on the road to square off against the Cornerstone Christian Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Tabernacle gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener back in February. They had just enough and edged Tuscaloosa Home Educators out 7-6. The win was just business as usual For Tabernacle, who after one games remain undefeated this season.
Meanwhile, Cornerstone Christian entered their tilt with Tuscaloosa Christian with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They won by a run and slipped past the Warriors 5-4.
Colby Harrison made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits (he also didn't allow any walks). Harrison was even better at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with a home run and three runs.
In other batting news, Gage Donaldson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBI, and a stolen base.
Tabernacle was able to grind out a solid victory over Cornerstone Christian in their previous meeting back in March of 2023, winning 4-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Tabernacle since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
